ACE Place rooms: Robins

Our youngest children (under 2 years) are accommodated in our Robins and Doves rooms which are home to up to 20 children across the two rooms.

Ages: 0 to 2
Capacity: 6

Typically the first room for our youngest babies, the Robin’s room has been designed and decorated with this in mind. The children are cared for on a 1:3 ratio by staff who are supported by a trainee to ensure that our children have the best possible care.

The routines in this room closely follow those adopted at home and the staff work closely with parents to make sure that our littlest babies settle in safely.

The Doves room allows for a little more exploration and active play but like the Robins is staffed on a 1:3 ratio with support staff on hand to ensure children’s needs are met.

Staff in both rooms are familiar with and understanding of each child’s need for connection to feel secure at nursery, their needs for attachment are fundamental to our approach to caring for our youngest children and meeting their individual needs.

Together we can

A key focus for our Under 3’s is South Lanarkshire Council’s Together We Can.

This document provides clear guidance for staff working in early years on how best to support our youngest children.  All the activities provided for our Under 3’s are designed with this in mind.

Together We Can has been developed in line with the values, purpose and principles of the Curriculum for Excellence and is, therefore, an excellent building block for the learning the children will go on to undertake in the 3-5’s and indeed when they move on to Primary and Secondary education at school.

Together We Can focuses on 5 areas of development:

  1. health and well being
  2. emotional spiritual well being
  3. social development
  4. physical development, and
  5. cognitive development

Together We Can recognises the important role parents and carers have in their child’s development and we will work in partnership with you to take forward their development in a holistic way.
