ACE Place Outdoor Learning Officially Opened

What a fabulous day for an opening.  Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to making today another special one for ACE Place.  We were joined by Allison Greig and Gary Linstead, from Glasgow City Council.  Gary kindly carried out a fire safety demonstration and helped the children whittle sticks to toast marshmallows.  We had some chocolate brownies cooked in orange skins an hot drinks thanks to the kelly kettle.  Children proudly showed parents around our Woodland Site and demonstrated their confidence in exploring the area and risk assessing.  They used flint and steel to start small fires and were assisted by Allison who helped them learn how to extinquish them and clear up afterwards to leave no trace.

Clare Haughey MSP was there too to cut the ribbon and do the ‘official’ ceremony.

What a team effort, well done to the staff who turned up to set up, tidy up and run activities, I know the families all appreciated the effort and the opportunity to see what their children do when out on our woodland adentures.

If you missed us today, and are interested in attending  a future event, or popping into one of our daily sessions please contact us on 0141 631 4477 or 07740 575 772 if we are out and about and unable to answer the landline
